MUTV, Marquette University’s student television station, asked me to create a promotional behind the scenes video for them. This was another chance to play with at Sony EX-1, and I like how the final cut came out. For this project, I shot and edited the video, as well as created the background music. I’m very pleased to say that it is featured on the front page of Marquette’s Diederich College of Communications website. Take a look:

It’s finally here. I’ve been waiting the better part of a year to release this, but I finally have everything together. This is my first production mixtape. It’s a collection of songs that I’ve produced, spanning the last few years. Enjoy.

Wow. The last two weeks have been the busiest two weeks of my life. I haven’t put up a new post in a while. My bad. Anyway, Proph released his latest project “Wool Over My Eyes” yesterday. Giving the thing a full listen, I have to say that Proph isn’t playing around on this project. Also, check out track 3, “So Cold”… I produced that. Just sayin

Let me take you back a bit to a weird time called January 2010. Myspace was still a thing… kind of. Facebook was taking off. People were still wondering, “Why do I need to know what you’re doing all the time?” when they saw Twitter. During this weird time, I released a beat tape called “…Just Hear Me Out”. If you don’t have it, you’re not alone. If you did download it, thank you. I think like 20 people downloaded it at most. ZShare removed it.

Fast forward to about two hours ago today. Something went off in my head that said “Hey, slightly less people don’t know me. I should re-release ‘…Just Hear Me Out’” Then, I thought about it more. Frankly, a lot of the tape… sucked. No two ways about it. So then I decided to take only my favorite parts of that and put it out. That way whoever has the old tape still has something rare (not really). I changed some of the track names. Those sucked. I changed the cover art. That sucked, too. This whole re-packaging took place in about an hour and a half. So, without further ado, download the best parts of “…Just Hear Me Out”, repackaged as “Put It On The Fridge”. If you’ve heard the last one, forget that. If you haven’t heard this, give it a shot. More actual new music is on it’s way. Enjoy.

After much anticipation, Mad Static has released his first project in two years. “Let The Church Say… Amen!” has a very diverse sound to it. At times, it reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest and Raekwon, and at times it reminds me of a Kanye West album. Either way, I’m totally okay with listening to either. Oh yeah, and I produced track 4, “Bass In Ya Eye”. Just saying. Listen to this EP and download it right here:

In Milwaukee, the south side is the least represented side of town, and in many instances it’s for good reason. However, RockzSolid is definitely emerging as a stand out, and this release shows it. It’s a big step up for her, and she’s got shows lined up to support it as well. Oh, and hey, I produced track 4, “Hip Hop or Rap”, which features Mad Static. So, if that’s not enough reason for you to download it, I dunno what is.

Here’s a song leak from Madtown’s 2win’s album “When The Streets Take Over”, which I produced. If you want to get the whole album, it should be available online shortly. Or, if you’re in Madison, it’s available at the following locations:

The Exclusive Company – 508 State St. (608) 255-2433
B-Side Records & Tapes – 436 State St. (608) 255-1917
Ear Wax Records – 254 W. Gilman St. (608) 257-6402
Madtown Fried Chicken – 2336 S. Park St. (608) 294-8494
Mad City Music Exchange – 600 Williamson St. (608) 251-8558

If you don’t know C-Money, So Klean, or Super Fresh Bros., get familiar with them all. You can start by checking out C-Money’s “Above The Clouds” mixtape here. This falls under the “I Made That” heading because I produced the Intro, Intermission, and Outro beat for this tape. I got this tape early from C-Money himself, and after a ton of listens in the car, I really can’t find a track, or a verse for that matter, that I don’t like. Every track brings strong lyrics, and a plethora of references for you to catch. Click here or on the picture to isten to this whole thing, front to back, and then give it to like, all of your friends. They’ll thank you.

This is the first installment of TCS’ Sunday Steeze series, in which they are giving out a new song every Sunday in April. I got this track in advance this week, and so far it’s gotten almost 20 plays from me alone. That sounds kind of self-obsessed, but TCS brings it every time. The Cranberry Show – “Liquid Slinkys” (Produced by Allen Halas)

Here’s my first attempt at shooting and editing a music video, and I think it went pretty damn well. I also made the beat for this track, so I’m pretty much all over this. Check it out:

I’ll shoot and edit your music video, too. Email me at allen.halas@marquette.edu and we’ll talk about rates and such.
