This just seems flat out dangerous. I just discovered Shockfighting, which is essentially all sorts of no holds barred MMA, with tasers added to the fighters’ hands. Yes, this is a real thing… or was a real thing… I’m not sure if it’s still around. Shockfights.com is no longer a site, and according to the articles I’ve read, the sport-thing has been banned in all 50 states. Shocker, right? Pun intended.
Watch this nonsense. Caution: People get tased, bro.
This is definitely extreme. I don’t really call it a “sport”, but there’s more athleticism here than Nascar. Also, don’t do this ever. You will die. Surf waves, not trains, people!
I saw this on Sportsnation tonight, and needless to say, my first reaction was “I’m gonna blog about this tonight”. Not really… kind of. Anyway, here’s how Slackline.com, the official website of Slacklining (duh?!) describes this sport-type-thing:
“Slacklining is the sport of walking a small, flat nylon rope between two points. It is practiced in the backyard, on college campuses and city parks, and even 3000 feet above the ground. Some people do it for fun, others for the obvious athletic benefits, and others still for a meditative purpose, in seeking a higher state of mind. Since slacklining’s development in the late 1970s, slacklining has grown into an international craze, and is a common and popular pastime within the outdoor community.”
Personally, I am both amazed by the athletic ability and dumbfounded at the concept of this. I’ve never wanted to do something and conversely not do something so much at the same time. I would imagine that crotch injuries are numerous with Slacklining. Just watch this. You’ll be kind of glad you did:
Even though I want the Heat to win this series, I was unaware that the final seconds of NBA games were completely no holds barred #nbafinals5 hours ago
