A long time in the making, Gerald Walker’s new mixtape, “Believers Never Die” is out. No surprise, but it’s 17 tracks of smooth music, just in time for summer. More production from Taylor Gang producers Cardo & Sledgren, and definitely some awesome additions from Chicago’s own Slot-A, amongst others. Oh, did I mention XV, Phil Ade, and Skeme are all featured on a track? This is definitely going to be one of those tapes that I put on, and might never get out of my music rotation for a long time. Go get “Believers Never Die”. It’s free!

Nathan Williams of Wavves covered the Misfits’ “Hybrid Moments” last night, and put it on Twitter as “an ode to the band”. I’m not sure if I like it, but I think it’s worth sharing. It’s a weird, poppy version of a Misfits song. Like, if The Misfits went to the beach and brought along a tape recorder or something. Williams said that he didn’t even tune his guitar when he played it, which sounds appropriate for a Misfits cover. Tell me what you think about this:

Personally, it’s not as good as the original. But that’s just me.

The second installment of TCS’ holiday mixtapes. This one’s made up of other songs you might have heard from a few years ago. Honestly the only songs I haven’t heard before on here are “Dancing With A Fat Girl” and “We Ride”. If you’re new to TCS, or just don’t have these tracks, download them by clicking the picture below:

The series concludes with the Christmas mixtape. And for the record, I do think this is dope. You probably will too.

I’m currently downloading this as we speak. To give you the quick rundown on this, it’s a mash-up of Coldplay and Jay-Z, not unlike The Grey Album, which featured Dangermouse mixing The Beatles’ White Album and Jay’s Black Album, or the mash-up album from Linkin Park and Jay-Z, “Collision Course”. The mixtape features 20 songs from different producers including 9th Wonder and The Kickdrums, amongst a whole mess of others. The original release got thousands of downloads 2 years ago when it came out. Jay mentioned that he liked the project and Coldplay also linked to it on their website. The Re-release was set to drop in December, but why wait? Stop reading about this and just go download it. It’s what I did.
