More new music sent to me from New York. I always like it when stuff gets sent to me from outside of the midwest. Jae Brinks shows a new side on “Goodbye”, a more personal, heartfelt track. If you’ve ever been stressed out, this is that feeling in a song. Can’t fault Jae for putting that feeling down on a record. Definitely something people can relate to.

I’ve been getting some music sent to me from New York recently, and I’m pretty impressed from what I’ve heard. The first track is by Jae Brinks, the “F.E.M.A. Freestyle”. This track is ready for your car’s sound system, and that’s saying something considering I drive a ’96 Oldsmobile. The flow reminds me of Childish Gambino, but that’s definitely not a jab at Brinks. All this thing needs is for somebody to say “Get em!” at the beginning of the track, because that’s definitely what he did.

The second track, “Throw Up Flow” by A-Boogz has a completely different feel. It’s way more laid back than the Brinks track, but it’s got a timeless feel to it. In a word, it’s smooth. There really isn’t much more to it, and there doesn’t need to be. I’m definitely a fan of this one.

You will be very happy that you clicked on this link. Introducing Allen Samuels, a 55 year old casino executive in Atlantic City. Before you ask yourself; Yes. This is a hip hop video. And yes, he does follow the cookie cutter hip hop video formula. And no, the lyricism isn’t really there. But I’ll be the first to say I’ve heard worse. And his bank account is probably closer to Jay-Z’s than most (if not all) other rappers when their first videos came out. So ignore the little things and live the (or de) life for four minutes:

This is kind of interesting. Try to guess what genre of music each New Yorker is listening to. You’ll be amazed at some of the actual answers. Some are kind of predictable though.

What are you listening to?
